This report presents the findings of a Youth CARAVAN survey conducted by Engine among a sample of 1,004 13-17-year olds, comprising of 502 males and 502 females. JA's programs help teens better understand the connection between what they learn in school and how it will apply toward their future career goals. Junior Achievement delivers programs focused on promoting work-readiness, entrepreneurship and financial literacy to students in grades K through 12. Very few (5%) anticipate working in an office over the summer. These are followed by outdoor work (17%) and babysitting/child care (14%). 12-week training academy followed-up with a potential 2-year commercial placement. Students explore project-based learning activities in science, technology, engineering, mathematics, and entrepreneurship that extend the curriculum taught in the classroom and build student competency in STEM workforce skills, tools, and technology. STEM Career Clubs is a program funded by the National Science Foundation and Burroughs Wellcome Fund that focuses an intervention on 200+ students in 4 after-school STEM clubs in NE North Carolina, supported by Parent, Teacher, Leadership & Student Strategic Teams. ![]()
